angle of attack
I am a new golfer with a question re my swing.I hit a lot of fat shots when swinging my woods on the fairway. However i seldom hit a fat iron shot.I believe this is due to my angle of attack being too shallow with the woods?how can i correct this with a drill or perhaps change my aim point?thanks

If you are actually UNDER PLANE, or INSIDE-OUT on the downswing... this would make one possibly tend to hit drop kicks and fat shots with woods off the turf.

Make adjustments in your setup to hit a little left to right FADE for a while with the fairway woods. Trying to DRAW the ball right to left with the fairway woods can sometimes cause problems.

Sounds like the ball position is a bit too forward of the stance. I'll move it back a bit and see.

YOU load and sustain the "LAG", during which the "LAW" releases it, ideally beyond impact.
"Sustain (Yang/陽) the lag (Yin/陰)" is "the unification of Ying and Yang" (陰陽合一).
The "LAW" creates the "effect", which is the "motion" or "feel", with the "cause", which is the "intent" or "command".
"Lag" is the secret of golf, passion is the secret of life.
Think as a golfer, execute like a robot.
Rotate, twist, spin, turn.
Bend the shaft.

I had the same problem until someone good sole explained to me that i tilted my spine backwards, from the goal of my aim, so much that my front shoulder couldn't get low enough in the backswing. In your case it's probably your left shoulder, right? (I'm a lefty, that's why I write front)

So you might check up if this could be your problem too. Let a friend help you to level your shoulders at set up. Hey, not completely level, there should be a little tilt since your second hand on the grip comes lower. Not more.

Now in your backswing feel that your front shoulder dips just a little more than it uses to do and you will also feel a better loading or wind up in your back leg. Don't straighten it out. Keep the flex in your knee.
By starting at a more level plane of the shoulders you will enable this move easier. You can imagine it's pretty hard to get the front shoulder down in the backswing in a proper way if you start with it very high?
This will hopefully give you a steeper angle of attack and a better ball contact. No more duffs! I hope...
