When a hitter takes the club away from address,what is the correct procedure ?I take the back in a straight line from the ball.
Not sure if this is correct.

I,m not a guru or anything,but I have been using hitters pattern for quite sometime and I can only tell what works for me.
Firstly, set-up at impact address ensure that you have (right hander)FLW and maintain BRW all the way through swing,take that condition back "ON PLANE"take it back to bit more than shoulder height.
secondly,ensure you feel the lag on first joint on index finger,maintain that pressure point all the way through swing
dont try to hit too fast,get the feeling that you are driving your forearm into the ground.
I,m some guy,s here will give you a better picture and explanation than me,but in answer to your question,you dont take club straight back perse ,you take the club back on the plane.

If you mean visually straight back, as in the club head travels straight back from the ball. Then no, not correct. This would be "covering" the plane line and above the plane.

Ideally the club shaft in start up, travels the shaft plane, the club head moves back, up and in or on an arc visually and an extension of the club shaft would point at the straight base line/plane line. A hitter uses "angled" hinging.

A hitter should load the elbow. Pull it back like pulling a lawnmower cord.
Make sure you find a way to get the right hip out of the way first.
