When last we saw our Dynamic Duo, student and teacher were walking toward the sand trap. Not to hit sand shots, but to learn several techniques (including The Great Wall of China!) to achieve the correct Impact Hand Location.
In addition, we learn about the Feel of Lag Pressure (dragging sand or a wet mop) and get a crystal-clear picture of how Ben teaches the Pre-Shot Routine and Ball Location ("How can you use the shadow of this trap rake to build a great golf game?"). Remember, though he's teaching a constant Ball Location with regards to the Left Heel, he also insists on varying the Stance width for the Chip, Pitch, and Punch Shots and for the Full Swing. With the Head remaining centered between the Feet, this automatically produces a changing Ball Location in relation to the Left Shoulder (Low Point).
I have learned more about the swing from these two (Doyle) lessons and they have yet to hit a full shot on the tape. Right out of the book first page of the introduction.
Is hip turn a subset of hip action or the same thing? I do feel like when my pivot waits for the hands, I can pull the lag with my hip turn and hit good shots. Good stuff once again. Love the interaction. Especially the parts where he explains what he used to do and why it didn't work.
We will see a some differences between Ben and Lynn as the series goes on. No doubt Ben is a relentless teacher of the Three Imperatives. Ben swears by them as should every golfer.
