Axis Tilt and Hips
OK so I get that the Right Shoulder goes DOWNPLANE via a "Tilting" of the Axis (spin) . . . and this is accomplished by the Hula Hula clearing the Right Hip . . . got that part.

But . . . does the Hip Turn ALSO TILT?

Go to page 218 in the 7th edition...checkout the knee action section..section 16 at the top of the page...you'll find the answer right there...Plane of Hip Turn for Right Anchor Knee Action one will get a Flat Hip Turn at the Top of the backswing and Hip Turn Tilt on the finish.

I thought of hula hula is just the mobility of the HIP. like dancing a hula hula.

The axis tilt is caused by the BUMP of your hip either parallel to the delivery lines or flight path depending on your swing type, with a Stationary Head. To ready a right shoulder support as per 2H and transfer of momentum.

SO You don't really have to think of clearing or tilting the hip as per hula hula . It happens. The reason its there is because you dont want to RESTRICT your hips. and it reacts to the swing.

You sustain the "Lag" while turning the pivot and the body tilts its axis.

You no longer sustain the "Lag" while turning the pivot and tilting the axis.

YOU load and sustain the "LAG", during which the "LAW" releases it, ideally beyond impact.
"Sustain (Yang/陽) the lag (Yin/陰)" is "the unification of Ying and Yang" (陰陽合一).
The "LAW" creates the "effect", which is the "motion" or "feel", with the "cause", which is the "intent" or "command".
"Lag" is the secret of golf, passion is the secret of life.
Think as a golfer, execute like a robot.
Rotate, twist, spin, turn.
Bend the shaft.

The hips themselves tilt only in regards to the knee action.

Straighten a leg and keep the other bent - tilts a hip

The Bolding on the Quote was mine. I'm not sure that's a correct statement - needs a little more "chewing" - at least for me it does- maybe you can clarify.

I think this is the mechanically correct way but the hips can tilt indepedent of knee movement.

The reason you can't sustain the lag is because you are so eager to make the club move fast (a reaction to the intent of "hitting it far"). So on a full shot you throw it away too early, which doesn't happen for your short chip. (bts)
