A hearty LBG welcome to Robin Welsby, new member number 1,863. Robin is a member of the British and German PGAs who teaches at the club Golf in Hude in Hude, Germany, just south of Bremen in the northern part of the country.
I was privileged to teach a four-day LBG Academy for Robin and his fellow PGA pals Mark Roughshead (also in Hude), Allan Hendry (Golf Club Rittergut Birkof near Duesseldorf), and Chris Gillies (a Scotsman who teaches at Golf und Landclub Kronberg). Also among us was Patrick Van der Linden, a Dutchman and long-time student of TGM.
Great to have you on the site, Robin. I look forward to seeing you guys again in August!
In 1987, I wrote a letter to The Golfing Machine, I received a very nice answer of Sally Kelly to contact Tom Tomasello, which I did . I went 3 times to his classes in 1988,1989,1990. I learned a lot about The Golfing Machine. Due to my carrier as a business man, I had not much time to go really deep into the matter although I already thought I understood some important issues of the book. In 2002 I moved to a house close to a golf course and I found time to study the machine again. Marten Sol the only authorized instructor in Holland was working in Hamburg. It was not possible to go to him however he helped me with some point of my swing, we became friend and we disuse The Golfing Machine regular. From the list of The Golfing Machine website I picked in 2003 John Dovey an authorized GSEM. He helped me to improve tremendous. John had visit Ben Doyle several times and I bought the mat and Ben’s video tape. After John moved to Northern Germany I contacted Allan Hendry as a coach. With Allan my swing improved again. I was very honored that he invited me to join the class of Mike Hebron for professional teachers in 2004.
In August 2005 Yoda gave a class in Hude Germany. Between four professionals I could also join as an amateur.
This has been my best golf experience. Yoda has made The Golfing Machine clear to us, this has been phenomenal. The pictures of the various hinge actions, extensor action, the tripod, the delayed hip turn and the hip action became finally clear to me. The break through in my golf training has been his explanation how to work in the 12 section and the 3 zones. Of course you have to dig it out of the dirt. The reward is however fantastic. I am almost 57 years old and 20 years with golf. I never had before so much compression, so much control over the ball, club and my body. I also experience that I can easily get this feeling back. I know now how good a machine swing feels and I get addicted to it.
I really look forward to see Yoda again in August 2006.

Thank you, Patrick, for sharing this personal history. We are all pilgims on the journey that is TGM. We come from different parts of the world and from a wide variety of experience, but the journey -- the challenge and the comaradarie -- is shared by all.
