I went out to hit a couple of balls in my yard today and made a conscious effort to maintain a level right wrist. It felt extremely awkward. I'm not really sure how much left wristcock I was able to achieve. I have to admit no matter how awkward it felt, impact felt much improved. I either hit into a net or the woods so I couldn't make any distance judgements. For those of you who have mastered this, how much of a struggle was it?
If you are saying that you tried to prevent your left wrist from cocking or uncocking at any time during a full swing, that isn't what you're supposed to be doing. The left wrist should start out level at Address. It then cocks and/or uncocks as the right arm bends/straigtens and is level again at Impact. Post Impact, the left wrist continues to uncock to full extension.
If you saw improvement, my guess would be that your efforts resulted in a better Extensor Action (and your left wrist probably cocked anyway). The Left Wrist cocking and uncocking is a source of power.
I wasn't trying to prevent my left wrist from cocking, it felt like it wasn't cocking as much. Most likely I had been letting my right wrist cock as well. Better extensor action seemed a result as well.

Replace the word awkward with different. If you want your ball to do something different, you have to do something...different.
If it doesn't feel different, quess what, you haven't made a change; same results will occur. Through correct repititions the different feeling will become yours. The keys is patience, practice and persistance.
