Draws and Fades and Hooks and Cuts and Snipes and Bananas
Do you guys have one shot shape you typically play? I hear a lot of people talking about building a wall on the left side of the golf course.

What shape if any do you like? And on your standard cut/draw how many yards are you moving it right to left or left to right?

Learn to use them all(Flight Paths of the Ball)..I play by curves anyway.....Med high draws to low-cut fades...there's more ways to play than a straight line A to B...but for the "simpleton's" out there...stick to A to B...Learn to fly like Jonathun Livingston Seagull NOT like the Flock!!!

Flight Path of the Ball
1.) Initial Direction - Straight, Right, or Left
2.) Curvature - None, Right, or Left
3.) Distance - Pin -High , Short, or Long
4.) Trajectory - Med , High, or Low

Pick your Combo.....See ya at the Creek in the AM

Flock of Seagulls? And I ran . . I ran so far away!!! And how about the "do" on that dude?

Ran with the Camel today with Skywalker. Guys this dude can teach and knows the book inside and out. And can he strike the ball. The handle should be Annikan Ballstriker instead of Skywalker. In addition he is a first class guy!

Thanks Annikan for turning up the heat in here a few DEGREES and for you generosity!

80 yards in:

Different trajectory and spin combo with a low bounce 52 degree wedge -- the most versatile wedge IMO.

Controlling trajectory not just by using different Hinge Actions, but by manipulating hookface of club, i.e. more/less forward lean.

I hate hooks, personally. They're just useless and crappy...roll forever, etc. If you've ever fought hooks you'll know what I mean.

So I'm trying to swing similarily to Hogan (weak grip/full turn & roll with a fade- almost impossible to hook, but not a weak shot either).

I agree though, you should ideally be able to draw it if you want to.

I've thinking about this a lot lately. I can fade or draw. It seems though that the fade is the easier of the two shots for me. If I set up squared away and make a perfect swing, I will draw the ball - with my miss being a pull. If I set up for a fade, it seems I can swing just about as hard as I want and I will not pull or hook the ball - but my miss here is a push-slice.

I think to get to the next level I really need to start purposely shaping my shots. Maybe a good thing to work on in '06.

Use to and Will Again
I work the ball according to the shape of the hole most of the time on tee shots. I also will play a safe cut on tight holes where letting the ball run (ala draw) is not recommended. Obviously I will work the ball extreme amounts (or try) for trouble shots, but mostly a 5 - 10 yard movement is all that I try for under normal conditions. I tend to play it straight on approach shots, but will adjust trajectory as needed.

Now, having said all that, since my experience at the SoCal school I cannot really work the ball at all. My swing is in full rebuilding mode and I am having to re-learn the stroke including working the ball. Oh, well.
