Anyone here play with Sensicores in their iron shafts? I'm thinking about the switch and was wondering what the difference between a regular shaft and a Sensicore shaft would be.
Sensicore is a device to deaden some of the jarring feedback from an off centre hit. Advantageous to those who miss a few on cold early mornings.
Disadvantage is it adds weight to the shaft and because of condensatin inside shafts they tend to suffer internal rust more than normal steels.
Real choise has been added with Aerotechs steel/graphite composite which are very very very good. Best of both worlds as they come in all sort of weights and are actually superior to plane steels in an engineering sense. Jack Nicklaus actually plays with them and had been paying for them without the company knowing about it. Worth checking out as an alternative to the Sensicore.
If you want shock dampening ... I bought these things called Pro-Soft inserts from www.myostrichgolf.com . They may be available elsewhere, but they ran 25 cents per (cheaper if you buy in bulk) and they act just like sensicore without the added weight. You can even put them in graphite shafts if you like. You just pop the grip off and insert them down the butt end (they also sell an installation tool, which makes it easier but isn't an absolute requirement). Everything I ever broke in my hands playing football hurts when I play golf, so shock dampening is wonderful for me. $10 per shaft for Sensicore or $.25 for Pro-softs ... Easy call for me! Good luck.
