Putter Selection and Eye Dominance
I am a right-handed golfer who is left eyed dominant. I have read contradictory info on which type of putter is best for left eyed dominant golfers.

I find I putt better with center shafted blade or anser style putters. Also, I putt better using a slightly open stance with my head tilted slightly to the right ala Jack Nicklaus style.

I would like to hear what vj and other think about putter selection and putting style for right-handed left-eyed dominant golfers.

I too am left eye dominant, almost entirely left eye. Using a pair of pro-aim glasses, I determined that I basically 'have' to stand about 45 degrees open to get my eyes on plane and on line. Helps me really get the right side 'under hand toss' motion too. Just have to be careful to monitor my shoulder alignment - the key alignment in directional control IMO. Basically I setup like Crenshaw/G. Norman or a slightly taller version of Nicklaus.

This post is very interesting to me. I occasionally can putt decently, but I have to work really hard at it, and sometimes have really bad days, including 4 putts grrr. I am definately left eye dominant and if I just relax, try to forget totally about mechanics and just concentrate on the hole I seem to get a lot better, I think that when I do that I just allow my body to go where it needs to instictively. The only problem with that is inconsistency. I have never seen anything that mentioned an open stance etc. for left eye dominance but I know that if I just walk up to a putt to pop it in the hole then my stance is open. I also prefer the anser style putter.

So in essence you are saying open stance, tilted head, How about ball position. I have just noticed that the ball much further forward in my stance seems to work better for me, I think that may be a Jack Nicklaus too but I may be wrong.

Thats exactly how i putt now ! Tried the Yoda method (taught by Comdpa) and slowly and instinctively play like open. right shoulder arms online support ie. stance+ shoulder Open. You dont have to bring the butt too far in front to get the flat left wrist which i like. And to me , I can see the line better during setup because I use 2 eyes instead of 1. works for me.

I do notice I putt better with Ansers with this kind of new putting though. I always had used mallets.

Interesting about the 45 degrees. I too setup with 45 degrees open stance to get the underhand toss feel for Push Basic.

You made me curious about the stance. When you say 45 degrees, do you refer to the feet or only the shoulders?

Feet/hips only. Shoulders always square, they are the prime directional alignment for all shots.
