Chapter 9
In 9-1-7 the only thing that APPEARS to have moved is a little lateral movement of the left femur, and maybe a slight lateral move of the left hip. Comments?

Do any of you use Chapter 9 as a PIVOT DRILL?

check the knees... start down pivot wise is all about hip bump and getting to stable knees.

According to Mr. Orr . . . this is Thigh Abduction . . . Resulting in the right leg resisting going foward too soon . . . as a result the hip turn is SLOWED down.

That's all I know about that there . . . I had my knees gettin' together too early . . . so it's kinda like Ben Doyles' sheep dawg thing. let the dawg out during transition and then catch his tail at the finish.

Yeah, I am sure there is more than one "System" that has its roots in the pics in Chapter 8 and 9.
Diane has moved in relation to the background from 9-1-6 to 9-1-7. Her Feet are a couple of inches further left in 9-1-7, which I guess makes it look like the Right Knee is kicking in more than it actually is.
Beach balls, sheep dogs and clubs across the the top of the Right Thigh going underneath the Left Thigh all help to let the Left side separate from the Right during Start Down.
I suspect though that it may be more effect than cause. The major cause of snake hips and Elvis knees is many have been told that it is good for their game. " You can't turn your Hips fast enough" " Git that Right Knee in there " etc.
" All Components, except the Right Foot and the Right Shoulder, have reached or passed, the Line of Sight to the Ball", I think could also encourage this.

Good post Tater . . . Where did that quote come from? What section do you know? Fantastic point.

Why do you reckon the "slowing" of the hip is important?

Which one?.
The last quote is 6-M-1 DOWNSTROKE SEQUENCE, 2nd Paragraph 6th Edition. I had ( stupid me) interpreted it as getting the Right Knee and Right Hip ( They are Components) also past the Line of Sight to the Ball.
The others were from well meaning instructors. We were able to cancel the ambulance though!.
The slowing of the Hips is important because of the correct Pivot Spacing and Overtaking Rate of the Pivot Components. Translation of Rotation. - Acceleration, Momentum, Braking, Transfer of Momentum, Creation of Torque. ( Llama speak)
Mr Kelley did say " Instant Acceleration Hip Action". He didn't say they accelerate all the way to the Finish.
