So I think I can finally hit a little bit. I hit it very low though so I only can effectively use it for knock down wedges (which bite like crazy!) and so called stingers off of the tee box.
My understanding is that by nature hitting produces a lower trajectory than swinging, but I think I am doing something wrong to only be able to hit it so low.
Here is yodasluke answer recently on another forum when asked about his ball trajectory:
"I hit the ball very low because of clubhead lag, but it rises because of backspin. The high amount of backspin helps to keep the ball flying very straight, though."
Correct for sure, but most won't have Luke's awesome clubhead speed to garner the said amount of backspin. This is a good question here in this thread. I wonder if a certain clubhead speed is required before hitting can be used effectively vs swinging. Angled hinging with it's tendancy toward fading and a higher ball flight might offset things tho. Hmmm.....
Could we possibly look at the right wrist flattening as a culprit. Even though I am a swinger, I know when I start to lose this bent right wrist and overaccelerate the hands, I start to get a much lower traj.
Could hitting low be because of the roll of the driver face?
On most drivers, if you hit it in the center of the face the loft is what is advertised for that head. If you hit higher than the center then the loft of the face, because of the roll will hit the ball higher. If you hit below the center it might produce a great worm burner.
I had this problem when I first started golf. I then switched to a Wishon driver that does not have roll on the bottom half of the face ( his design is the only one that has this).
3 Barrel Hitting with a Driver or 3 wood will produce a low slider...look for the shot in one of the last three chapters of the Tomasello series...it's actually an awesome looking shot...great for windy weather or used in trouble shot condition....low shot under tree branches.
If you hit exclusively and you want to hit higher with your woods you will have to use a 4 barrel hitting procedure...per 2-M-4.
Sounds like you're quiting around impact and/or don't have the right ball position.
Whether i hit or swing the trajectory is similar with hitting actually a little higher
i agree with jim, in hitting i think you would hit the ball higher because of the angled hinging and i dont see how quiting would make you hit it lower unless you where hitting it thin or getting to steep your probably just releasing later than before than when you where swinging so try moving the ball position up
by quitting i mean he is stopping the drive downplane so he ends up with a "punch" type swing/shot most of the time because he isn't driving to both arms straight, he's quitting so he's ending up with a bunch of "stingers" or punch shots.

when attempting to hit I also get a lower traj. For me it feels like the lack of a deliberate/delayed uncocking of the left wrist plays a part.. but feel v's real is likely an issue here.
