A Chance Meeting With and AI
The subject of this post will remain anonymous, so I'll just call him Pro.

I'm scanning the shelves of the golf section of a bookstore the other night just looking for interesting new books about the history of golf or something psychological related. (I stay away from the swing theory stuff). I've got my warm winter coat on with my Justin Leonard British Open Ben Hogan hat on. Guy about my age, or a little older, wanders into the the aisle and says to me "I guess this is the golf section because your wearing a Hogan hat and your reading a book." I chuckle and say "Ya." I then look up and immediately recognize him. He was once on Golf Channel's Academy Live and I know he is an Authorized Instructor (G.S.E.B.) of the Golfing Machine. He continues the conversation asking me if there is anything new and interesting. I mention the newest Mark Frost book about Bobby Jones and a few others. I then tell him that I think I know who he is. I say "You're The Pro". He then said "Ya, that's me." I went on to tell him where I recognized him from and he appeared a little surprised, but he said thanks a lot for noticing.

We started to make small talk about golf books and what was new. He was looking up and down the rows of books and every once and a while he would point out a good book which he had recently read. He was kneeling down looking at the bottom row when I said "There is one book that is missing from this store." Still kneeling and looking down he says "Which One?" I said "Homer Kelley." BOOM! He shot up like he was just hit with a 983K with a Diamana shaft at a 12* launch angle at 2700 RPM's.

Now it wasn't small talk.

Pro:"Are you a Golf Stroke Engineer?"
Me: "No, but I would like to be someday."
Pro: "Why do you Like TGM?"
Me: "Because it works."

We went on for about 30 minutes talking TGM, Homer, and other instructors views about TGM and Homer. (And I'm talking other BIG name intructors who have expressed their views to him). We talked about how hard the book is to read and apply if you don't have an AI to help you. I told him that because of the internet we TGM dudes now have resources that we didn't have before. The first web address I gave him was lynnblakegolf.com and I told him this was the Best of The Best. He made sure he wrote down the address correctly. He appeared to be very surprised about how TGM is starting to spread via the internet.

I could tell you guys a whole boatload of stuff but I want to respect this persons privacy.

It was 30 minutes of fascinating conversation about TGM and it's acceptance, or rejection, amongst the teaching professionals crowd.

A chance meeting,

who would have thought.

Very interesting. Would love to hear more (I realize you don't want to reveal his identity).

I believe I know who it is. If it is who I think it is, he has been on TGC several times.

OK, I can leak a little.

According to PRO, at the mention of Homer, "Butch rolled his eyes."

And Mr. One Plane Swing said "Homer set TGM back because he made the book too difficult."

Note, neither one dismissed TGM.

I think he has only been on TGC once. Otherwise, he's been showing Mr.& Mrs. Haversham how to sustain the line of compression at a really old and beautiful golf club.

Yeah, it's the same old thing. Big name instructors essentially make silk purses out of silk and TGM instructors make silk purses out of sows' ears.
