From what information I have gathered so far, this seems to be similar to "tennis elbow" as opposed to "golfers elbow" which affects the inner aspect of the elbow. The discomfort started even when I was doing drills with dowels and hadn't even hit any balls yet. Now that I have started to hit balls, it's gotten considerably worse.

Is this something that is common to starting out with this or do you think I might be doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW I realize hitting off of mats may be exacerbating it but I have hit off of mats for over 20 years without ever having this problem before.

Thanks,

Marty
Marty I had (i suspect)the same problem and actually posted Vikki on it,Yoda suspected I was swinging my right arm, however the problem disappeared. In my case I believe I was so used to a slightly less vertical right elbow (or should i say forearm) the small variation made my tendons sore.I presume you ARE hitting -which is what I was trying to do at the time.I now know I was switting and now concentrate on dragging my wet mop!.I recommend a detailed discussion with Vikki .I believe my problem was merely the fact that I was using the triceps to perform EXTENSOR ACTION -I never knew about it until TGM and really didn't understand it .....until I saw Lynn.Maybe that's why Homer said the book should be used in conjunction with Professional advice. You know where to go
