Did you hear "The Sermon on the Mount on Swing Plane" on ABC by Hank Haney?...No wonder Golf Instruction is in a sad state of affairs...I'm embarassed for him and most of all that Tiger is buying into that crap...One of my Nationwide players left me this year to follow this doctrine....And he was well aware of the difference between the Sweetspot Plane and the The Almost Irrelevent Clubshaft Plane...When will the lies end and the Truth begin? Someone needs to call these joker's out!!!!!

tiger isn't buying into anything, you'd be surprised how little of haney's ideas he is currently using.
However i will say that it wasn't always the case especially when they first started. I have a friend in Texas who has a lot of inside information on the subject so this isn't just "speculation" either.

If Tiger isn't buying into it..What are He and Hank doing?..Playing "Paddycakes?".....
Brian...Our generation will get its turn...soon enough....Hank is a helluva coach despite his belief system...but you're right..Nothing these guys do is very impressive...
"Brian, it's all smoke and mirrors out here."
—Ben Doyle, the 1st Authorized Instructor of The Golfing Machine, to Brian Manzella, GSED, by cell-phone from Ben's first PGA Tour event TEACHING ON THE RANGE in years.
Who did Mr. Haney learn from... was it not Jim Hardy? I've heard him speak at a couple of P.G.A. Teaching seminars. His idea of plane had something to do with congruent lines. He said he did not understand the big deal about lag. He thought the guys that had a lot of lag(probably Accumulator Lag) were usually short hitters.
Now... I've seen a video of Evan Williams(Big Cat), and he has Accumulator Lag, Clubhead Lag... and probably Pivot Lag, and he destroys the ball!! I suppose there are some lagging short hitters, but there are LONG ONES TOO.
Mr. Haney is, however, doing many thing well. He obviously gets good results with many people. He is great at marketing himself, just as David Leadbetter is.

Basically their concept is that the clubshaft is always parallel to the original plane angle - plane angle doesn't change yet the baseline does - the reverse of the truth... their plane line just became a U shape... - its rubbish mind you - with this theory there can be no downplane force. This doesn't stop Tiger subconciously knowing he needs to adjust to create one though....
Don Trahan, "The Swing Surgeon"... believes the butt of the club should point at the line the toes are on throughout the backswing, and much of the downswing. His son D.J. Trahan, does pretty much do this, and plays well.
Jimmy Ballard believes that the club is on plane as long as it is pointing somewhere between the line the toes are on, and the line the ball is on.
Davis Leadbetter believes the plane is BENT at some point.
Jim Hardy is talking about the plane of the shoulders.
I believe... not many people know about SWEETSPOT PLANE.
Of course, if you are looking at PLANE with a camera, you better have the camera positioned correctly, and/or consistently.

AS
Tiger was at first trying the parallel planes theory towards the beginning of the year and ya well, he sucked. I always refer to the buick open (which he won by luck).
Par 5 18th hole, he was hitting 3 iron to the green. It was the worst/flat/"parallel plane" backswing i've ever saw and what happened? Exactly what should happen with a backswing like that: he came way under plane and basically whiffed at it. He was lucky enough to fade the ball in between the pond in front of the green and the 8 yards of grass next to it.
if haney did anything he helped tiger really learn how to "swing" and get that full roll. That's one reason why the stinger didn't work as well (hitting) and he does it different now.
All i'm saying is that Tiger really isn't doing anything that Haney teaches, at all. He did what most knowledgable ballstrikers do: they pick up what they can and then ignore the rest.
If you want specifics i could talk to him and get the latest scoop.

Looking at your All-Star list..one thing is apparently TRUE...None of them are really sure what in the he77 they are talking about....But they all really know what they are doing...that is what Brian said earlier...blowin smoke....and not necessarily with mirrors...but up people's arses...
Hell you can't get them to agree on camera positioning....Most have it too low and on the target line...This makes the swing appear longer that it is and makes it appear more inside..thus the birth of the parallax..that they teach...
In order to get accurate pictures...you cannot use one camera...you need several depending on what you're looking for..or better yet...a 3D program...that's the best way to get it right.....
