One Pole-ie and a front nine PB :-)
Played 36 holes on Saturday. The first 18 holes in the morning was not that great (84) but on the last hole of the monring round I managed a pole-ie.
The last hole on my home course (Cawder Golf Club) is a downhill 201 yard (from the tips) Par 3. There was no wind to speak of and the pin was about 5 yards on in the front of the green but the green is guarded by 6 bunkers (2 front, 1 right, 1 left, 2 back)
I was striking my irons pretty well all day long and hit a 6 iron. Something must of clicked as I absolute pured it! It started off a little right of the pin and was drawing back a little heading straight for the pin as it was coming down against the backdrop of the clubhouse.
So, there is me on the tee....waiting..waiting...holding that Pro like finish......and the next minute I hear this all mighty clank! The ball hit flush on the flagstick!
Unfortunately the hitting of the flag meant that ran about 40 feet away from the pin, but it was really kewl to have the feeling of seeing that ball seeking that pin from way out and not deviating one bit. 2 putts later and it was a par but it was sooo close. I think the ball actually left a mark about 1/4 of the way up the pin

So went in for some lunch and to watch the big boys play in the 3rd round of the Open for a bit.
Decided to go out for another 18 with some friends. Shot a nifty 1 under par 33 on the other 18 at my home club. My first 9 holes played in under par.....maybe playing this game isn't a wasted effort after all.
