Jesper Parnevik - a true hitter?
See Jesper's swing here

Check his angled hinging. It is especially evident from the "down the line" angle.

I saw him in the Scandinavian Masters in Stockholm ca 5 years ago. On a par 3 hole. Ca 160 yards.
While the other players were punching 7 and 8 irons, Jesper punched a 9. They all seemed to have a low trajectory - rising forever and then just dying on the green,

Too bad the video won't show you what he looks like at impact. Just post impact.

Is it just me or does he seem to keep his right arm more connected to his chest than most?

AND...does he always set up open, or is that just the camera angle? Anyone know? I can't find another sequence of him...

BrentR,

Good eye with catching the angled hinge action post impact....from Jesper's long backswing, I would have thought he was a classic swinger with horizontal hinge action....sneeky golf by Mr. Parnevik.

DG

Also, notice the Punch Basic position of the Right Elbow.
Absolutely Punch. This dude can really drill the irons. He keeps his Right Hand Paddlewheel going well past follow through. He doesn't swivel until well past belt high. You can even see lay back of angled hinging on the face on view.

Check his set up though. His wedges seem to be set for Pitch Basic at Address and then he gets to Punch Basic at release. Would love to see the down the line view.

What's going on with this guy? He's slumping right? I guess the pants are too tight and ate too much volcano dust. I would love to see him get going again. Fun to watch.

He had an injury a couple of years ago. I think it was the hip. He played with it for quite some time, and serious compensations crept into his stroke. At the end, he couldn't keep his game together, and went through surgery. When he recovered from the surgery, he had issues with his stroke which I am not certain he has fully recovered from. Hopefully he will be back in good form soon.

Link to story

2000: Hip surgery after winning twice that year.
2001: Won the Honda.
2002: Did not pass the $1-million mark for the first time since 1996.
2003: Fell further back
2004: Significantly better year with five top-10's in regular PGA Tour events.
2005: Quiet so far.

Have personally not seen him blaming the hip in interviews, but it might be the case.
Hope to see him back on the leaderboard.

Embedding wide URL links and pictures in a post changes the margins on all the posts.
There is a modification we will be implementing on our next upgrade.
