Just another success story...
After two weeks of not picking up a club, I had a tournament yesterday. I was a little worried about how I'd play, but the birth of my son was more important than golf. I know that's hard for some of you to believe... more important than golf!?!?!?

The tournament was a two pro, 27 hole event. 9 holes were scramble, 9 holes were alternate shot, and nine holes were best ball. We lost the tournament by ONE SHOT. We shot 12 under and the leaders shot 13. We shot 6 under in the scramble, 1 under in the alternate shot, and five under in the best ball. On the best ball side, we both had to play our own balls and I shot 32, 4 under for the nine. All of my birdies were on par 4's. I missed putts on both the par 5's, and par 3's.

This is a testament to TGM. My old car (golf stroke) was like a thirty year old car that when put in a garage for two weeks, you'd have to work on it to get it so it could run, warm it up for awhile, then hope you could get it out of the driveway.

My new car (golf stroke) is like a brand new Ferrari. Just crank it up, and burn the rubber off the tires getting it out of the garage. I've got so much more confidence, even with no practice. I finally know what the heck I'm doing, and I like it!

Lose The Pack
And one more from the pen of Henry Longhurst:

"They say 'practice makes perfect.' Of course, it doesn't. For the vast majority of golfers it merely consolidates imperfection."

For those who would break free from those troubled ranks, the solution remains The Golfing Machine.

Congrats!
Ted, first of all congrats on the new little one!! It will be interesting to see if they list him on the leaderboards as Ted Fort III or as Trey Fort. I have 4 kids myself so I know what a joy they can be (as well as how exhausting a newborn can be).

Your results in the tournament after a layoff are exactly my thoughts about my stroke now. Before if I hadn't swung after a layoff, or if I had a bad swing during a round, my game would go straight down and frustration would go straight up. Now I can just shrug it off after a bad shot and go back to my allignments and easily pull the trigger without the worry of a total meltdown. I played yesterday and had snowman on a par 4, but recovered with 3 pars and a birdie on the 4 subsequent holes.
