Go to a locally and reputably run health food store not a chain. You usually get better educated people and certainly people who have the community at heart; it's in their interest as a citizen and it's good business.

Music is a gambit but I tend more toward Bagger's list as I just don't like a lot of the lyrics in hip hop and rap. In the gym I don't hear the words so much but on my ipod inside my ear it all comes thru loud and clear. My son introduced me to www.limewire.com where you can test out music and then choose to download it or not. I found some music that I wouldn't have automatically chosen or remembered.

I have to admit that I have run for so many years I even run to books on tape. I only turn them on when I am going fo my run so on the occassions that I might not 'feel' like getting my workout I often will want to get back to the story. This also works for movies if you are doing indoor cardio (which is always difficult for me to get thru).

Now let me be your Mom and remind you to use reflective gear even at dusk. People on cell phones and with busy schedules need a little help seeing you. I often hear people ignore this since their in a neighborhood but we find that that's were people get the most familiar and sometimes less attentive. The only two people I know who have been in running accidents both experienced them shortly after dusk and in close proximity to their own homes. Just a friendly headsup.

Vik

Thanks for the tips vickie :)

I know I need to get healthier and been recently seeing how my rising and lowering energy levels are effecting me. My blood pressure is up and down all the time and has big drops when standing up that at certain times make me feel very dizzy when rise to my feet and start see lil black spots in my vision for a second or two. My sugar levels aren't great but just stay in the range of normal.

Right now I would be your idea of a nightmare...lol. I got a major addiction to drinking coke, fanta, sprite and other soft drinks and eating bars of chocolate. I often eat an entire packet of chocolate biscuits just for dinner....lol. I never cook (even though im a wonderful cook when I want to be) other than microwave food and then use plastic cutlery and paper plates because doing dishes just doesn't seem like fun to me...lol.

Im working at it though :)

My idea of trendy is an Edison phonograph and a cylinder of Gregorian Chants. Two minutes is all it will play, but then again, two minutes is all you can stand...

I couldn't run very far the first time but at least running double what I did a week ago and my throat isn't getting all sore after 3 mins..... I like to do it at nightime too with headphones on and starting to really enjoy it.
