Frank Moore, GSEM, PGA
(Forum userid: lagster)
Frank Moore GSEM PGA Member (772) 538- 6150 948 Island Club Square Vero Beach, FL 32963 Fmoore7638@aol.com My first exposure to golf was in the early 70’s. I had a few lessons from the local pros. The first lesson, really sparked my interest in the golf swing. I improved quite a bit, and broke 80 that same year. Next, I took a few lessons from a pro that favored the Square to Square Method. I had a tough time with this, but I figured out a way to make it work. I went on to play college golf. I did fairly well, and made the All-Conference team one year. We had a good team, and won both the State Small College Tournament, and the District Tournament during my college years. I have now been in the golf business for over 20 years. I started as an assistant pro in Virginia. There I gave my first official golf lessons. The pro I was working for was interested in teaching, and seemed to like the Golf Digest instructors… Flick, Toski, etc.. I did the best I could to help the people, with what I knew. Later, I worked for a pro in North Carolina that favored Jimmy Ballard’s teaching methods. I learned a little about this type of teaching, and did use some of the ideas with my students. Next, I worked for a former tour player in Indiana. Here, we taught strictly according to the Jim Flick type format. We gave many, many group lessons, and did junior golf camps. The next several years I was back in North Carolina working as an assistant pro. I became a PGA Member during this time. I continued teaching, doing the best I could with the knowledge I had. I took a few lessons from an up and comming pro named David Leadbetter during this time. During these years I met a pro that was winning many local pro tournaments in the area. He actually played in the P.G.A. Championship, and made the cut. I found out he adhered to a method that had something to do with a machine concept. We met a few times. He gave me a few pointers, but later referred me to a teacher in South Carolina. I attended my first Golfing Machine School in 1988. The GSED was Tom Tomasello. I saw here a clear way to teach and learn the physics and geometry of a golf stroke. My teaching, and playing started to improve, as a result of my new knowledge. A year or so later, I attended the Advanced School that Tom offered. In attendance was Clarence Moore, 2 time U.S. Senior Amateur Champion. He gave a demonstration of his pattern. He was very impressive. He could Hit, or Swing equally well, at least it appeared that way to me. I picked up more useful information at this school, especially relating to the short game. I continued to work with Tom up to his death. I also worked some with Alex Sloan, GSED I gained more insight from Alex, although his methods were quite different from Tom’s. Later, I taught for 3 years with GSED George Kelnhofer. There, I was exposed to many tour caliber players, and good amateur players. David Duval, Larry Mize, Charley Rymer, Stuart Cink, Craig Perks, and Charles Howell were the many players that came through there. During the next several years I taught in Atlanta. During this time I knew, and worked periodically with Tom Ness, GSEM I learned a great deal from Tom, especially about the short game. I also knew, and worked some with Chuck Evans, GSED. I developed back problems later in my career. During this time I contacted David Lee, because I heard he had a method of swinging that was back friendly. I found that David had quite a knowledge of physics, as it pertains to golf. I taught briefly in his indoor facility, Gravity Golf, in Atlanta. A year or so later I met Lynn Blake, GSEM. Lynn has a unique level of understanding of The Golfing Machine, due to his personal involvement with the author, Homer Kelley. Through my involvement with Lynn, along with Ted Fort and Steve Ferguson, I gained an even greater insight into The Golfing Machine. I currently live in Vero Beach, Florida. I can be contacted for private instruction at… 772-538-6150. E-mail-- fmoore7638@aol.com |

Forum Userid: vj V.J. Trolio played Division 1 collegiate golf at the University of Southern Mississippi. He served as Team Captain during the ‘96-’97 year, and as a senior became the first Golden Eagle to earn a birth into post season play at the ’98 NCAA Championship. After graduation, V.J. turned professional, playing the Hooter’s, Teardrop, and various other mini-tours across the country. A week after missing qualification for the second stage of Tour School, he qualified for the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, one of the year-end tournaments on the PGA TOUR. This week would forever change his concept of how the game should be played. In 2000, V.J. sought help from Rob Noel, GSEM. Until that time, he had avoided 'intense' instruction because of a false belief that too much instruction made golf too complex. Rob introduced him to The Golfing Machine®, which for the past four decades has stood as one of the greatest instruction books ever written. In 2001, V.J. was awarded the designation, Golf Stroke Engineering Bachelor (GSEB), the first instructor in Mississippi to have achieved that recognition. This year, he earned his Golf Stroke Engineering Master (GSEM). For the past three years, V.J. has spent most of his life on his Lesson Tee or researching the game of golf. His student list of top-ranked juniors, amateurs and touring professionals continues to grow. During this time, he also co-created The Putting Arc ®, a revolutionary golf training aid. The device teaches that the proper putting stroke is not “straight back-straight through.” Instead, the putter head should travel on an arc back and through. With the vision of Dave Hamilton and mathematical genius of Joey Hamilton, The Putting Arc® is now being used by more than sixty PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, Champions TOUR and European Tour Professionals, along with countless top amateurs. Ted Fort was elected to membership in the PGA of America in June 1996. That same year, he was named the Georgia Section’s Assistant Professional of the Year. Most recently Ted was awarded the 2006 Georgia PGA Teacher of the Year. Underlying his teaching philosophy is the bedrock foundation of Homer Kelley’s landmark work, The Golfing Machine. Says Ted, “I owe my understanding of The Golfing Machine to Lynn Blake, a personal pupil of Mr. Kelley who has studied the work for more than 25 years. I sought Lynn as a mentor, and he welcomed me as his student. Over time, we have formed a bond of mutual respect that has become extremely strong.” Ted presently teaches Lori West, an 18-year veteran of the LPGA Tour. Her first victory came in 2002 on the Women's Senior Golf Tour shortly after they began working together. Lori followed that performance with a second victory in 2003 and five Top Ten finishes. Ted also teaches Brian Nash, the 2000 National Long Drive Champion. Brian, a Pinnacle Long Drive Team Member, recently established his ‘personal best’ with a launch of 445 yards. On the lesson tee with students of all abilities or on the platform presenting to his peers, Ted Fort serves his fellow man each day. Teaching golf is his life, and his expertise and passion for that calling is evident to all. |

Teaching Philosophy My teaching is based on a geometrically-correct golf swing. The golf swing is circular in motion, with impact being a downward strike through the ball to the lowest point of the swing arc. This allows the player to maintain a straight left arm during the swing. Impact should be made with a descending blow. The hands should be well ahead of the club head prior to impact, and the left wrist must still be flat at a point past impact. The player must be able to swing in balance while maintaining the correct upper body tilt. I strongly believe that Equipment Affects Motion®. Length and lie angle alone will dramatically affect a player’s posture and their ability to create the above-mentioned alignments. Club weight and shaft flex are extremely useful in creating the proper pivot and balance. I have had great success creating a balanced motion that is geometrically correct by utilizing the proper club components. A player using improperly-fitted clubs will be forced to make compensations in their swing. All players, regardless of ability, should have their equipment properly fit. Bill began playing golf as a teenager and was fortunate enough to have been taught by many great teachers including Tom Strafaci, Carl Lohren and Mike Hebron. A chance meeting with Tom Tomasselli in 1978 began Bill's interest in the Golf Machine. Bill is currently studying with Lynn Blake and recently was fit for Henry Griffith's clubs by Jeff Hull. In 1983, Bill earned his Class A membership into the Professionals Golfers Association (PGA). Bill has served as Head Professional at various courses in New York and New Jersey, including the Golf Club at Mansion Ridge, Colts Neck Golf Club, LaTourette Golf Course, Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course, and the Randalls Island Golf Practice Center. Bill believes that there is no such thing as "The Swing," however there is a "BEST" swing that will work for each individual. By developing the golf fundamentals, each student will find their best golf swing. This swing will produce a consistent ball flight. Since 1987, Drew Chapman has been the Head PGA Golf Professional at Highland Country Club in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He has been a PGA Member for over twenty years and is also an Authorized Instructor of The Golfing Machine. Drew graduated from nationally-ranked Division 2 Bryant University in 1984, where he teamed with former PGA Tour Player Jim Hallet. He began his golf career as a teaching professional at Fall River Country Club, Fall River, Massachusetts under Head PGA Professional Tom Tetrault, winner of the PGA's Bill Strausbaugh Award and the Golf Digest National Junior Golf Promoter of The Year Award. After accepting the Head Professional position at Highland CC, Drew went on to become the President, Director of Education and Junior Golf Chairman for the Rhode Island PGA. An avid collector of golf antiquities, he has collected well over one thousand books on the game of golf. In a frenzied search to distill the common threads of great golf literature, he discovered The Golfing Machine in 1986. “Every book that I had ever studied was in there; right between the two yellow covers. I realized then that some methods held up better than others, but a method could not be applied to everyone. There was no 'The Way.'” He has been studying and teaching TGM ever since and believes that combining geometry and physics, as presented in The Golfing Machine, in a fun learning environment will change a student’s game and life forever! The results speak for themselves. Drew can be reached at Highland Country Club at 508.222.3015 or by email at highlandpgapro@earthlink.net. |
