Restoring Moe Norman (with front pictures added)

Just spent the last 3hrs cleaning this up.

The original I got from the dark dregs (SA place)and was a bunch of scanned pictures which were all crackly and placed very loosely on top of each other but now after my nifty photoshopping we have Moe Norman Restored.

another great post!

I think your efforts here are really the best!

Thank you for another great sequence.

Thanks upndownn,

It really makes me feel good to bring people things they like ... :)

I'll be doing the one for the front soon too....

It amazes me that many people try to understand Moe Normans mechanics and they don't see it - its in the little yellow book. Moe Norman is so like Homers golfing machine ideals its uncanny...

Hinging?

Thanks for the excellent sequence, Mathew (and Jono, if he's here).

Just to clear up (what I think is) a misconception about Moe's stroke, does this picture indicate Angled Hinging?

Apart from the bad camera angle, its horizontal hinging I believe....

Matt,

I am the guy who "put the crackly images very loosely on top of each other". I go by the handler Jono.

Just to let you know, it was difficult job to put the images together into an animation when you have images of different size, orientation and as you say, "crackly". I got the images from Jack Kuykendall's website. The photos were given to him by Moe Norman to help him teach his swing. I used various points in the background as reference points, and I had to resize, rotate, and move the images so they lined up. This actually took a lot of work.

Good job on the restoration work.

Cheers,

Jono.

Thanks to you too Jono for the original to clean up, without you no one would be able to see these - and welcome to our site here in cyberspace :)

From the sounds of it, we both put alot of effort into these so others can study and have admiration of his stroke which is a really great thing.

Im close to finishing the restored front photos and will be posting them soon :) (actually just need to resize and animate it as the individual pictures are finished).

Working together for the common good :)

Matt,

I would love to see the restored front view when you have it ready.

I'm not sure whether you noticed, but I think there is a photo missing at the start of the downswing. In the Down the Line view, the transition is quite smooth, and you can see how Moe initiates the downswing. In the Front view, there's a "jump" from the top position to the half way down position. I think Moe must have lost this photo before he gave the sequence to Jack Kuykendall ... or perhaps he purposely took it out knowing that it contained his secret.

When you have done the restorations, would you mind if I distribute the final animations to some of my friends on the net?

Cheers,

Jono.

In here Chuck says he's a Hitter.

Hmmmmmm. Maybe a mistake?

MizunoJoe 10-13-2005 01:49 PM

Moe said he pulled with his left side and that he had no idea what his right arm did. Were he a Hitter, he would have known exactly what his right arm did.

I read what chuck says but I can assure you he's totally wrong.

I could show proof but I don't need to because anyone that knows TGM knows Chuck is wrong.
