Most likely because he found that the circle delivery path was not as optimum as the straight line delivery path.
|
I greatly appreciate the response...
On what basis .... do you feel that the circle path delivery is inferior to a straight line for swinging.... |
Maybe he thought that downcocking coupled with #4 leakage made a true straight line delivery path possible rather than just a straight line effort, which is the reality. I've never seen a straight line delivery path of more than an inch or so before it starts curving.

One does not have Secondary Axis Tilt (the one at Start Down) when using a Circle Delivery Path. Which means Right Shoulder cannot get On Plane to provide maximum support for the Stroke. |

skywalker - yes, if you step through it and use a straight edge, you can see that the path starts curving from the Top. When the angle is held that well it creates the illusion of a straight line. BUT, it is a straight line effort, and it's a larger radius arc than the circular path would be.

What page is that from in the book? I don't recall seeing that in 5th edition in that format.

Thanks again. |
I do not know why either, but maybe the great man thought he would be repeating himself.
Possibly he believed 2- J -3 and 7- 23 were sufficient. If it is not a straight line, is it a circle?. No, but that does not make it a straight line either. Depends on how thick the line is !. Arc or Angle, Rim or Spoke, Hit or Swing. Interesting topic. I am sure someone must know why. |
In reality the Straight Line Delivery Path is never a Straight Line for more than a few inches at most.
I believe it looks more like a tilted oval pointing at the Ball (or alternative Aiming Point). Also, your hands tends to be closer to your body when using a Striaght Line Path. |
