Swing Study
It has been said that Brad Faxon has "too much lag," and that de-lagging him some would help him. I'm pretty sure at one time he did try to de-lag his swing.
What do you think of this? Have you ever seen a(rare) case of too much #2 Accumulator Lag in one's standard procedure, or do you believe this is possible? Be kind to one another! |
de-steering instead
De-lagging. What a crock! Charles Howell used to have a ton of lag and lean until he was de-lagged..and check out his stats BEFORE the lead poisoning. He was #1 in Total Driving early in his career. Now, he's pretty well down the list.
Brad Faxon steers the ball too often. Neither he nor Tiger get "stuck" because of too much lag. We all just steer too much. |

The remedy was learning how to swing on plane. I am doing lots of training on this now using a laser from impact onwards keeping the laser pointed at the base line and in my case (swinger) training in horizontal hinging. Also I am working on keeping the club on plane through the followthrough swivel. Clyde Melancon of http://www.golfjustlikethepros.com/ Has made me up a prototype of a Dual Laser Grip. A grip with a laser at both ends 180* from eachother. http://www.golfjustlikethepros.com/D...ining_Grip.htm I got the idea for the device when working on killing my steering action. It is due to turn up any day but I have a got a good feeling about it. Swinging on plane feels like you are swinging well left in followthrough compared to steering. |

At the Open at St George's I got a job as a spotter. I was standing in the fenced off area between the spectator stand and the players on the practice ground(Press only area) . Howell was spraying his driver all over the place while being taught by Leadbetter he was getting really angry. There was another spotter a few yards from me directly behind him an Irish guy called Eanna . Howell stopped hitting balls walked to the fence and semi shouted at him "Have you got a problem , have you got a problem" I guess he was looking for an excuse for his poor performance. It crossed my mind to say " He has not got a problem mate but you have . That useless coach ." I kept my mouth shut but have wondered what the outcome would have been if I had said that. |

What do you think of Sergio's delagged Acc #2? |
Quote:
You make a motion, and the ball just gets in the way. You don't try to hit down, or try to square the face up, or try to accelerate just before Impact in an attempt to get more mash. Never hit at the ball. Never make any compensations for Impact. Ball just gets in the way... |

I saw Charley's swing after a de-lagging. I think he had 1 degree forward lean with a sand wedge. The instructor(G.S.E.D.) asked him why he was doing that... he said, that's what his other instructor wanted. The G.S.E.D. put the lag(#2) right back in there. As I recall...he was able to get it back quite quickly. An obvious difference of opinion on the LAG. |

Lag PRESSURE
Quote:
Lynn Blake explained lag pressure to me the way that Homer meant and the way that Homer explained it to him. I no longer like to see the word lag without being followed by the word pressure. Lag Pressure, lag Pressure, lag Pressure, lag Pressure. Now, I feel better. |

When we talk of lag, I assume we mean lag pressure and not necessarily max accumulator #2. Now - can we have too much lag pressure? Damn right we can! If you create too much lag pressure, you may not be able to sustain it. See 1-D, 2nd paragraph and 6-C-1-A, 3rd paragraph. Sustain the lag. |

Do you think that has to do with you being a Hitter Ted?

When I first got into golf, I thought lag was accumulator #2 maxed out! Boy was I ever wrong! Thank you Homer!!! |

Still working on it!! But at least I am on the right path. No more holding the wristcock forever! |
Quote:
For me wristcock isn't 'held', extensor action holds it for me for as long as is necessary so my full attention can be focused on lag pressure. Does anybody else feel this? Thanks |
