Music to workout to....
Been trying to get healthier and quit smoking. Not quite there yet - been cutting down drastically (2 or 3 a day from over 20 a day) and soon plan to stop all together. Been doing running and it seems to help on the periods when I feel like I want to smoke. I couldn't run very far the first time but at least running double what I did a week ago and my throat isn't getting all sore after 3 mins..... I like to do it at nightime too with headphones on and starting to really enjoy it.
Thought it would make a great thread though on what you like to workout to.... Heres what I got so far .... 50 cent - In the club Linkin Park - Crawling Tupac - Ghetto Gospel ft Elton John Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes Police - Every Breath I take So what do you guys workout to ? |

Great Job Mathew and keep it up! There is no better substitute for bad habits than integrating good ones, especially fitness.
I enjoy a wide variety of music, but when it comes to working out there is only one style. INTENSE!!! To match my workouts. :D 70's, 80's 90's Metal works great for me, but I mix it up. A sample - Alice in Chains Judas Priest Coldplay Guns n Roses U2 Bon Jovi Smashing Pumpkins REO Speedwagon Rush Crank it UP!!! |

Guess it's time for me to change discs. Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music just doesn't cut it with this crowd of meat-eaters. |

Great plan on your Non Smoking program Matthew. The running will definitely cause a dumping of toxins that will speed your healthy recovery but will expose you to a bit of the toxic side effects. Keep up your running and make a trip to your local health food store. A good anti oxidant and some very specific homeopathic products can make give you some relief on the cravings and the side effects of cleansing your system. Go to a locally and reputably run health food store not a chain. You usually get better educated people and certainly people who have the community at heart; it's in their interest as a citizen and it's good business.
Music is a gambit but I tend more toward Bagger's list as I just don't like a lot of the lyrics in hip hop and rap. In the gym I don't hear the words so much but on my ipod inside my ear it all comes thru loud and clear. My son introduced me to www.limewire.com where you can test out music and then choose to download it or not. I found some music that I wouldn't have automatically chosen or remembered. I have to admit that I have run for so many years I even run to books on tape. I only turn them on when I am going fo my run so on the occassions that I might not 'feel' like getting my workout I often will want to get back to the story. This also works for movies if you are doing indoor cardio (which is always difficult for me to get thru). Now let me be your Mom and remind you to use reflective gear even at dusk. People on cell phones and with busy schedules need a little help seeing you. I often hear people ignore this since their in a neighborhood but we find that that's were people get the most familiar and sometimes less attentive. The only two people I know who have been in running accidents both experienced them shortly after dusk and in close proximity to their own homes. Just a friendly headsup. Vik |
