Weight Distribution in Putting
VJ or Others Interested,
Discuss weight distribution in putting. I have found that with Arc Putting... placing the weight favoring the left heel works well. What is your preference? With On Line Putting... what do you find works well for weight distribution? Next... Arc putting seems easier on right to left putts. When the arc is opposite of the break, especially on very left to right putts... it sometimes seems more difficult. Do you think this may have something to do with Linear vs. Non-Linear visualization? |
In putting its all about the A FRAME BABY!
Head centered between the feet, balanced weight distribution, feet/legs are like anchors, don't move them. |
:x
(I love this guys face!!!) To the weight distribution. Take a cd or mirror and draw a line on it. Get your eyes over the line and go back and through the eyes DO NOT MOVE for a number of reasons. Depending on length of putter, height, etc.... the distribution of the weight will be different for different people because of their instrument and physiology. |
"Arc Putting" is set up geometrically. If the area of movement is horizontal to the ground or directly over the ball the movement will be straight back and through. If the area of rotation is angled to the ground or inside the ball the movement will be in an arc. If the area of rotation is vertical to the ground the "swinging gate" or a circle will make its way to stroke. So stroke path is not guided by visuals. |
Set Up
vj,
What do you recommend as the set up, "geometrically," for am ARC STROKE? (Posture, ball position, etc.) |

Hue, Take the extreme of a six foot five man and a five foot five man. The six foot five man has a 34 in. putter and the five foot five man has a 34 in. putter. The taller of the two will bend more thus putting more of his body weight on his toes. The shorter man will bend less and put less weight onto his toes. NOW GRANTED THESE ARE EXTREMES but the measurement of weight is weighed in lbs. which is pretty precise. Instead of telling the world to get on their left leg, right leg, heels, etc.. why not understand what it feels like to have the eyes over the ball with the forearms in plane with the shaft. If it feels akward, then change the equipment until it does not. I hope this answers your question. I must say this as a reminder to myself, nothing really matters exception the plane line, the lag pressure, and the hinge, even in putting. I love this game. How about you? |

I love this game. How about you?[/quote]Yep :D Where does the weight tend to be for a 5'11" guy. |
:D
for your eyes to be over the ball it would depend on the length of your putter. |
