The tray position

HI all,

Great forum, what a find !

Anyway, my first question.... (I'm sure there will be many more).

Is the so called tray position at the top ( flat left wrist, right wrist hinged back) only arrived at using angle hingeing or should correct horizontal hingeing reach the same position ? I suspect the former is the case.

Questions are the heart and soul of this forum. So ask away. And yes this is a great find !! :D

The so-called tray position, requires a turn of the hands - a start up swivel, a turn of the hands as the left cocks and the right bends or folds back to the top. This is called Standard wrist action (10-18-A) and is used by “Swingers” who use Horizontal Hinging. Standard is a Turn and Cock of the left wrist to the top.

Hitters uses a Single wrist action (10-18-C) where the left wrist is cocked but NOT turned. This lack of hand motion keeps the clubhead alignments on plane with an angled hinge action. Single is cock and no Turn of the left wrist.

Welcome to the forum, you found a great place to learn the GOLF swing. Tell your friends.

OK.

I have been practising what I call a "no arms swing". My shoulder turn starts the pendulum of my arms going back, sort of bumping them up to but not past my right shoulder. I am not consciously thinking of my arms and hands at all so I guess it follows that I am not swiveling at all. My leading hand feels like the knuckles are folding under and at the top I have a sort of spring action as my right wrist bends all the way back and then recoils a little. As long as I don't think about my arms and just turn my body, my chest traps my arms and kind of pushes them into impact where I hit the ball beautifully. I get the underarm throw sensation with my trailing hand.

I'd be very interested to know, in TGM terms, what kind of swing this is so I can look it up in the book?

The right wrist recoiling at the top might be a problem. Sounds like possible throwaway.

JT,

Take your point but I am moving down plane at this point so that kind of tightens up the angle again. The recoil is extremely slight.
