Number of greens at St Andrews

I think I got it right, when I last played there some of my first putts seemed to be longer than my tee shot. A side note, really hoping that we can get something happening next year at St Andrews Lynn, I am sure all the European subscribers have similar hopes.

I think it has to be 16. I know of one HUGE green that is shared by at least two holes anyway. Don't think it's 18 or 14. And it can't be 11.

Prior to 1764, the Old Course had 12 holes. The first and last were played once and the middle 10 both out and in. A round was 22 holes. The first 4 were reduced to 2, making the total 18, which became the standard.
