Impact Pics

Re: Impact Pics
Couples looks good, Els good, Ballesteros good, Watson good...looks to have very little #3 Accumulator angle, Faldo good...all these have the right forearm in a good place, but there are some differences in their hips , feet, and shoulders. More of the left shoulder is visible in some than others.
Donna Andrews looks to be in an unusual position. Her right forearm looks to be off plane. Mike Standley, I believe, also looks unusual(right forearm). Maybe this is a little after Impact. |
Couples' swing is so mint...
Ya that girl in the red looks right funny. Is Mike Standley the guy below Els? His right arm seems to have turned over too much...Either it's because this pic is AFTER impact, his stance is closed, his clubface open....or else he's just hitting a pull... |
That girl in the red is ...Donna Andrews-LPGA...
That is Mike Springer...and yes ...it is after impact...But the picture is there to demonstrate "running out" of right arm and an off-plane motion of the right forearm... Each picture is carefully selected and placed to learn different impact alignments for less than "ideal alignments" You'll notice the guy with the best alignments somehow arrived there "magically" from that "LOW HANDS CRAP"... If it is truly a machine...It should be an "Adjustable Machine"... Make a stroke with High hands ...Low hands...somewhere in between...For whatever the shot and the stroke require... Wouldn't you agree that if the ball is below the feet the hands are lower...whereas the ball above your feet might be adjusted a "little higher?" So...Is it "Imperative" where you start at address???...No...does it assist in eliminating compensating moves...for different shots....Yes... Are compensating moves practically in every swing. The ideal or goal... is the uncompensated stroke pattern...Some are "purer than others"...But perfect..No compensations... You show me someone who had perect alignments and relationships throughout their "ENTIRE" stroke...Everytime..... and I'll buy dinner!!! |
Who would you say has the best alignments now? Some guy with "that low hands crap?"
|
According to The Book....My vote is the guy in the Top Row...Middle Picture...
I think he has the most "Precise" alignments.... On -Plane Right Forearm...Great Spacing of the Pivot Components.... Couples Right Forearm is close but not "perf".... Els is close...but not "perf"... Watson ....way off ...But...5 British Opens???? Donna Andrews...way off ...LPGA...Dinah Shore...is a major right? So...I guess you can be way off and win... Nicklaus won 18 Majors with Over- Acceleration and a case of "controlled" Throwaway....if there is such a thing!!! |
Watson
Quote:
Do you think the camera angle on Watson might make him appear more off than it actually is, or is he always like this? |
Annikan - do you think Freddie's choice of grip is a big part of why his impact alignments are so solid, and perhaps the core reason some of the others are 'off' the ideal?

![]() Here's a nice alignment... |
213,
You're right ...thos are nice alignments on Ole Ben...Right elbow could have better spacing ...but still nice alignments.. Tom Watson always looks like that through impact on the long clubs Perhaps...Resulting from his very steep Plane angle and Full Sweep downstroke....It was a great pic on the range at Pinehurst so I don't believe it was a tricky camera angle!!! Ed Z great point about Couples and his Grip Type |
