Few collegiate golf programs have produced more outstanding professional golfers than Furman University. With 13 former Lady Paladins currently playing on the LPGA tour and one former Paladin a member of the PGA, Furman has a strong presence in the world of professional golf. The most recognizable Furman names on the LPGA tour include Hall of Fame members Betsy King ('77) and Beth Daniel ('78). Other outstanding Furman alumnae on tour include Sherri Turner ('79), Dottie Pepper ('87), Cindy Ferro ('76), Caroline Blaylock ('95), Ashli Price-Bunch ('97), Diana D'Alessio ('97), Joan Delk ('83), Sara Anne Timms McGetrick ('85), Denise Baldwin-Killeen ('84), Jen Hanna ('98) and Maggie Will-Halpin ('87). Furman's top three tour players - King, Daniel, and Pepper - have a total of seven Rolex Player of the Year Awards, six Vare Trophies, and one Rolex Rookie of the Year award. In addition, the three have participated in the last four Solheim Cup competitions, and King has twice won the Samaritan Award as the LPGA player who most clearly demonstrates the selfless qualities of a "good Samaritan." |
