Extensor Action
I'm trying to redo my swing, going from a hitter to swinger. One aspect I'm having difficulty with is this Extensor thing. How does one attempt to keep the right arm straight to accomplish Extensor Action at the same time one bends the right elbow in the back swing?
Trying to accomplish this feat is difficult as my right elbow doesn't seem to know what to do! Bend or stay straight. Even a light tug outward with the right seems to inhibit the bending process. Thanks LiftOff |
Might it be that your right elbow is "uncocked" and locked at address?
If so: Once you learn to apply Extensor action att address (with a dead straight left arm and a slightly bent right elbow) it will become much more natural. |
Actually, both elbows were bent somewhat at address in my old setup. Now with the left straight at address the right is slightly bent. At half way up or so I find the slight tug with the right in opposition to the bending that should be putting me into the slot.
Will continue to try though. This move appears to require tremendous patience. LiftOff |

Try this and see if it helps: hold both arms straight out in front of you palms facing each other. Wrap your right hand around your left wrist as if gripping a club. Apply extensor action to your left arm and pull it horizontally across your chest. Notice how the left arm keeps the right from straightening as the right elbow bends. Now throw this whole thing on an inclined plane and see how that feels. I hope this helps a bit. |

That's the ticket! Really much easier to understand and do. Thanks for the tip. LiftOff |

But there again I could be mistaken -- as all of this is somewhat new to me :-) |

for Extensor Action, not for a practice swing. |
