Charles Barkley
Why has this man not been helped? He is a good, maybe great athlete. He has hand/eye coordination.
I'm pretty sure several very well known people have tried to help him. If you have have not seen his motion... it is somewhat unusual. Sir Charles would probably be the golden goose to any teacher that could straighten him out. What do you think? |
Ahhahahaha......that's true tho eh.
If you straighten that guy out you've got your shit in order. |
FIRST - get him a club heavy enough to force him to ALLOW it to swing. One without a clubface to begin with.

Hint, he ain't gunna find it outside of TGM unless he becomes good buddies with the Walrus. |
Chuck Evans told me last year that he had a chance to work with Sir Charles a few years back. He is great until the ball is put in front of him. Barkley shouldn't change his swing- it is his signature.

More Fun
People may get a kick out of Charles Barkley's ACTION, but I bet he would like to strike it better, and shoot better scores... like everyone.
Probably most teachers have seen people like Charles. They have a very set pattern, and seem not be able to change at all. Maybe with a rehearsal swing, and possibly(briefly) on the range... but not for long, especially when playing. These people may have even taken some lessons, possibly for years from various well known instructors. You see a similar thing with free throw shooting... they are kind of similar in a way. With both of these, the player can take their time, go through a routine(waggle, bounce the ball a certain number of times, etc)before they execute their stroke or shot. We have all seen the opposite also. The guy comes in that is over the top(Loop Shift 10-F-7), Full Sweep, and throwaway... and is amazingly improved in one session... and can strike it well after the corrections. What makes this last guy different in his learning from the first guy? |

The thing I think is weird is, we are talking about an elite athelete that wanted the ball all the time...so I would think he shouldnt have an anxiety issue or confidence problem. Strange. I have heard he has seen sports psychologists, teachers, etc...but up til now, nothing has worked. Golf...gotta love it. |
