swinging, angled hinging and finish swivel
 

If one is using angled hinging in the swinging procedure, is more swivel required in the finish swivel than if one was using horizontal hinging?

I suspect that the answer is no because a hinge is not a swivel and vice versa.

However, if I swing with what I believe is an angled hinge (the clubface is at an angle at both arms straight), I find that I need to rotate my forearms more in the follow through to achieve the proper finish position. If I don't, I feel as if my swing is short.

In other words, how does one take the club into the finish position when using angled hinging?

I'm sure there's something I'm just not getting.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'short'? It sounds to me that you are probably too tense (check grip pressure) and you aren't allowing the natural rotation that occurs, even in an angled hinge. Angled hinge is a no roll 'feel'. It may be that you are trying for closer to a verticle hinge with what you are doing, basically a 'block' move - steering.

It is also likely that your pivot could need some work. Hard to say without seeing your motion.

By short I mean not completing the follow-through and swinging the club to the finish position... the swing ends in front of me.

I've always had problems allowing the natural rotation to happen (grip pressure is often an issue and I do often fight the blocks. This season I'm going to work extensively on this with horizontal hinging, but I was swinging some clubs at home trying different things and this question came to mind.

So when one uses angled hinging, should the natural rotation take the club into the finish swivel without much effort? Sorry for not being more clear.
