Who swings their chips/pitches?

If you do why?

I find that by swinging a pitch or chip that it simply takes too long for centrifugal force to "build" to really pure swing a chip or pitch.

Now don't get me wrong, i know how to do it and can demonstrate it with ease. I also have excellent tempo and rhythm too which HELPS A LOT.

I find that hitting chips/pitches is the best way to go. So much simpler. Impact fix, carry the arms back with a push elbow for chips and punch elbow for pitches and then just straight that right arm as much as you want for the amount of spin/distance/etc.

I find that is also easier to TEACH to people as well. Too many people who don't have their hands educated can really do a swinging chip or pitch in my opinion. There's still the need to want to "hit at" the ball.

Now am i saying don't learn how to swing a chip/pitch? No. Am i saying learn how to hit them first? Maybe ;)

I swing

I find it easier to monitor lag pressure when swinging. Probably more due to the fact that I've always done it that way. Every now and then I'll try hitting a chip, but usually have distance control problems, probably due to a lack of practice.

I usually Swing with chips....rock the shoulders type-deal....

I start at Imp. Address......Single Wrist Action.....Angled Hinge (duh, right?...lol).

But who knows.....my game has totally changed over the winter and prolly still is gonna change a lot more this season....now that I know what I'm doing (more).

This is another thing that I'll have to look at....

Actually yes....that's a great point about Lag Pressure too stilltrying....totally....

I find the same thing- better touch.

Maybe it's from a lack of practice with Hitting...??? Who knows. I swing everything else....

Hitting, by definition, is the active, conscious use of right arm muscle (triceps) to power the club through the Release and Impact intervals. If you aren't doing that, then you are Swinging.

Right Forearm not Triceps! The Magic of the Right Forearm. Also study 1-F, the Right Forearm is ALWAYS DRIVING.

Jim,

I agree. Though I can swing 6' chips with horz hinging with proficiency, it's still not the same as Hitting with Angled Hinging. Hitting is so much less complex. Trajectory control stable and the right forearm thrust and #3 pressure aiming is a natural. Distance control and driving at the same time is right their in front of you.

Pitching. On short pitches, swinging with angled hinging. Medium and long pitches, Swing with horz. Hinging.
