Interesting advice

Popped over to the local Dicks store for their golfathon sale and overheard the PGA pro assigned to the store helping a guy pick out a driver. The customer said he had trouble getting distance from his driver so the pro told him to get a driver with a higher loft or " just play the ball much more forward in your stance, even with or even past your left toe. There is an arc to the swing and you want to catch the ball well on the upswing." 18 months ago I would have believed it.

Interestingly enough, by putting the ball well ahead of low point and then swinging up on it, there will be no disruption to the orbit of the clubhead.

You will indeed hit the ball further, but at the expense of less control due to diminished backspin.

I was under the impression that with the driver we were supposed to catch the ball right at low point or perhaps just a smidge in front of that. Right or wrong or depends who you talk to??? Thanks.

You're prolly more likely to Bend your LWrist too right? Especially for beginners...

Ball position matters...

If you place the ball before low point, you will have to either bend your left wrist or drop your right side back and down to hit up on the ball.
