Time for new grips...

Hey guys, it's time for new grips. I'm thiking about trading in my clubs this year, so instead of going w/ my standard crossline full cord grips, I thought I might try something new. Anybody have any recomendations?

I think most golfers play with grips that are too small. I don't have a large hand -- I wear a Medium Large glove -- and still use the 'mid-size' Tour Wrap cord grip (it's already 'fatter' than normal) with two wraps of tape underneath. This puts the last three fingers of my left hand just touching the palm.

This is interesting and is something I've been considering since reading your other posts on this subject. I was in one of our local used equipment stores just last week messing around with different clubs and noticed that a couple clubs I tried had mid-size grips; they felt quite comfortable.

I've tried larger grips a couple of times and find I can't release the club as well. I wear large gloves and play standard grips. What's wrong with me Yoda?

Not a thing, Trig. That's why they make'em in all sizes!

Like you I am a long time Lamkin Crossline user and I don't think I will change, but the Golf Pride Durometers are getting a good write up as well as the Dual Densities. You might have a look at those.

Check out the light weigh grips too! They are HUGE interms of swing weight. Plus you don't need that much tape. You can keep the overall weight of the club light but the swing weight heavy.

I got light weight everything shafts grips, but the swing weight is up there.

I also have a Medium glove with midsize grips. I think modern grips are very skinny especially under the right hand.

Agreed, this is very important. I think too many people fail to understand just how much grip weight can alter the feel of the club. There should be more light weight grips on the market IMO. The decade lite cord (38.5 g) is a great choice for those who like a higher swingweight, as are the original winn's, which are slightly heavier (around 44 I think). Tough to find a mid-size grip that isn't over 52+ grams (or even a standard size).
