Divot points right - ball goes left ?

Been experimenting with some short pitch shots

Using dowels on the ground etc for alignment i've been hitting short pitch shots that are going straight left of the target although the divot is slightly in to out (pointing to the right of the target). My hands at both arms straight are pointing to the right of the target.

Everything's going right but the ball continues to go left

How can this be ?

If it's the clubface then how come the divot points in the opposite direction ?

Because the divot is indicative of the Clubhead Line of Flight, not where the Clubface is facing.

That's what i was thinking but wasn't sure how you could dig a perfectly shaped, straight divot with the clubface pointing 45 deg left or right of that.

I guess you can !
