Ted is terrific

If you ever have the opportunity to take lessons with Ted, you will be happy that you did so! He is a wonderful teacher and an absolute gentleman.

Amen, Brother!

I had the opportunity to take a lesson with Ted yesterday also. As Teach stated, you couldn't ask for a better teacher. But beyond that, I want to say this-what he has taught me works. When we compared last year's video to yesterdays, the difference was just night and day. I still have some small things to work on, but yesterday was the first time I didn't get sick watching my swing on video. Just goes to show, with the right instruction and a little application, you can get better.

Thanks again Ted, and here's hoping you guys are a smash hit at the Barclays!

Agreed.

But...

learning that he is as crazy about hitting balls as anyone made med wonder how he can stand it. :)

Teach . . . Good for you man! Glad you got to see Ted. What did you learn?

Re: Ted is terrific

Thanks bucket. I learned that:
1. it's a helluva lot easier to stay on plane in the downstroke when the butt of the club points at the plane at the top.
2. it is absolutely essential to bump my hips on the downstroke in order to clear the way for an inside path to the ball. I had no hip clearance, so I had to roundhouse.
3. I have to exaggerate flattening the downstroke for now
4. it's necessary for me to swing to the right field foul pole
5. how to practice the correct alignments and...
6. I had (hopefully past tense) the steepest and worst over-the-top swing in the history of mankind!

For the first time, I feel that I understand what I need to do to fix my swing. I *will* eradicate the steep OTT downswing. My only concern is that I will have to learn the correct roll procedure so that I don't hit the ball out of bounds right when I play. Ted showed me what to do, but we didn't have the time to really get into that. I'll watch the appropriate clips in the Gallery on full role (horizontal hinge action, right?) and will ask questions in the Basics sub-forum, if necessary.

I am glad you finally got to see Ted and found him as good as I said he was. In the right hands improvement is quicker than you think. Ted is a great teacher and with Yoda behind him he is destined will get better.

I had a great time with you and your son. I'm glad we got to play a few holes, too. You should be extremely proud of raising such a fine son. I hope to do as good a job as you've done.
