Trajectory

Let's discuss the factors that influence trajectory, and how and why they do.

EQUIPMENT, LAG (in it's various forms), HINGE ACTION, BALL POSITION, PLANE, etc..

I'll start...

EQUIPMENT-- The LOFT of the club is the most obvious equipment factor. The SHAFT is a factor--type, flex, kickpoint(maybe a someone can chime in on this one). With DRIVERS, they used to say that a CLOSED FACE DRIVER, actually made it easier to hit the ball higher, and OPEN FACE, lower. This was with WOODEN WOODS(clubs actually made of wood, in case some of you have not seen one). I'm not sure if this is as much of a factor with METAL WOODS.

The BALL... Certain balls tend to go HIGHER, amd certain types of balls LOWER.

Other EQUIPMENT factors?

Center of gravity moved back is a big thing . . . if you wanna learn a whole bunch about equipment . . . read Tom Wishon's book. It rocks. A lot of these equipment changes must adhere to the law of diminishing returns though.

clubhead path,

clubface effective loft,

ball elasity,

ball spin,

magnitude of impact,

air speed, through which the ball travels,

air density (temperature, humidity),

altitude,
