Trajectories with TGM lower?

I found a bare batch in my back lawn and since the temp was hovering around freezing I grabbed three shag balls, my nine iron, and ventured out. I hit all three balls straight but they didn't seem to be as high as I expected.
Does using the TGM impact fix, hansd lead the club head result in lower trajectories?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Yes = because you are "delofting" or "hooding" through impact and making that 9 iron an 8 iron for instance so it should go further and fly a little lower, not much though. However the INITIAL trajectory will be lower. The overall trajectory will be lower if you don't complete a full swing and stop before the finish.

No = because you should be getting compression from the ball which means more backspin and more height. I actually hit the ball MUCH higher than before and MUCH further.

Hi Jim :)

As always you provide sage advice.

I've noticed a similar ball flight pattern and attribute it to hitting a bit fat. I believe that the "little fat" is due to a loss of extensor action. This sound about right?

I'm probably off track but if your bare patch of lawn was really bare like hardpan this would have made the already delofted TGM trajectory even lower.
