Great points, I subscribe to the camera/video idea, just working out the bugs.

So where (I should know this) do we aspiring machineheads post stills and vids? There's amazing changes but that's more for the AIs. Be nice to have one thread or forum for all to post to.

The laws of force and motion

I think one of the most powerful things a teacher can give a student is accurate information. When I first learned about compression, and a forward leaning clubshaft that really 'got the ball rollin' for me. I learned how the physics work, now I am applying it to the golf club. It took time and hard work, with still alot of hard work to go.

It must be pretty tuff to play good golf if you don't even know what the principle of golf is.

Hmmmm...only 45 minutes to set up by Denny?:confused1 It used to be as I recall a lot longer, he has an unbelievable amount of aids.

Training aids have a place in golf, it is just that most fail to use them for their intended purpose or fail to use them correctly IMO.

I once was a big time believer in Video. Then after watching and reading all the different analysis that is made on these, I have come to the following conclusions:
a. Many do analysis with regard to positions not alignments.
b. 2 Dimensional analysis can lead to faulty conclusions.
c. Camera alignment/position is critical to getting an accurate understanding of what is actually going on.
d. It is difficult to identify using video power applied and how it is being performed.
e. The camera can't define feel which should be in the intended consequences of the mechanics.

As noted in the original post, training aids need to compliment the golfers stroke, not just as a swinging or hitting but in loading, etc.

Training aids in the correct hand are great demonstration tools provided the user knows the aid.

I think most golfers who have a camera, could spend about $20 and have a complete practice workstation that would by far out weight any training aid. Couple that with some accurate information and they should be well on their way to at least IDENTIFYING faults and potential causes of faults. For those without camera, a mirror will go a long way in assisting the golfer. The best is to have a Knowledgeable person assisting in monitoring.

Nothing beats a 3 dimensional view of the golf stroke in question.

Like myself, member:denny has thousands of dollars worth of training aids. Denny is a Collegiate golf champion, GSEB, MCI, WGCI and PGA Certified Teacher here in Mesa, AZ. He has been teaching for 20+ years and his students would include Jay Hass(grew up with him) and many many mini tour pro's, junior champions and a Senior Euro Tour Pro. Denny teaches 12 months out of the year and only takes off on Sunday's and Monday's to spend time with his family and kids. DENNY IS IN THE TRENCHES EVERY DAY FROM 8AM TO 8PM, ALL YEAR ROUND!! He loves to see people improve.

When he sets up in the morning it takes him 45 mins! Why, because he takes every teaching aid he owns out to the tee line INCLUDING his camera. Why! Because they all teach something different! Not one will teach it all! Or reinforce the properer swing of all 24 components.

Teaching aids are good for one thing, TEACHING!! They are for teachers.... a teacher that does not use teaching aids is like a mechanic that does not use tools. $119.95 spent with a TGM instructor with a teaching aid arsenal is the best money you will ever spend in YOUR LIFE. Often, range rats and students will what to come over and try them. Of course that is fine, but Denny says yes with reservation, because of the danger of ingraining something that does not even apply to your swing. example: Hitter swinging a Whippy TempoMaster or swinging a tennis ball on a rope.

I could go on and on about how teaching aids should have a Surgeon General Warning on them, but I hope you get the point.

BEST TEACHING AID - Still frame camera and something like V1 of Cswing if you have a computer. Homer Kelly says, L@@K L@@K L@@K. Problem is most people do not know what they are looking for!

Are you getting it yet!

As Denny would say "Stop the insanity", "your problem is, you do not know what your problem is"

Do like he says, post your swing photo's up, there are allot of instructors that hang out at these TGM forums.

Seek out someone who does this stuff for a living! Not the other guy next to you at the range or your golfing buddy..

Save your $$$, learn what your problem is, then L@@K L@@K L@@K

Mark,

This is a classic!

If you what to try to link("Insert Link") to a video or even photo's for free try www.tinypic.com

Tinypic is a video and image hosting service that allows you to easily upload, link and share your videos and images on MySpace, eBay, blogs and message boards. There is no registration, so give it a try!

Some cable company like Cox High Speed Internet allow you to create a personal web page free for being a customer. Check with your provider.

Thanks for that (I have putfile account) but I was asking what forum or thread in LBG to post to, so that our (the ones seeking analysis) swing sequences and vids are not strewn all over the site.
