Hit vs. Swing
Does anyone find that swinging works better with the shorter clubs and htting the longer clubs. I find that swinging the longer clubs I lose a sense of control and consistent ball contact.

Hitter’s just drive that clubhead to China- straight, hard. The ball should do the same thing each time. Answer to question: I haven't been able to use a Hit stroke off a tee or with a "flyer lie" so I Swing in both those cases. The shorter scoring irons because of the shorter backstroke cries for a Hit stroke pattern for me, but I still Swing the longer sticks. I am working toward a Hit stroke for all clubs because of the success the scoring irons have had. And Hitting feels so good. Better than Doom. 8-[ |
I find I can hit with the driver and swing with the short irons. Swinging with the driver equates to greater motion. The swivel, hinging and swivel makes it difficult to get a consistent strike. Hitting has the feeling of less moving parts and more control of the motion. IT seems like hitting is easier to learn yet no PGA golf instructor I have ever met teaches hitting.
Yoda makes it look effortless I am hard pressed to tell the difference when he hits or swings. |

Before Lynn, nobody taught Hitting- it was the bastard stepchild, the swing for fat old men. Lynn showed what Hitting is and that it is a stroke pattern for everyone. |

Do not forget the DOWN on long irons
Hi precision system.
I often switch from Swinging to Hitting as I cannot clearly see wich one is the best for me! Both are working well and distances are close. Each going back and forth between the procedures helped me to properly understand the distinct specs of both for the global benefit of my golf game! Now, regarding your question about distance, I produce rougthly the same distances with both procedures - long to short irons. I love driving my club into the ground while hitting. But with long irons, the arc of approach is not as steep with wedges. As a result I copiously drive it down to low point as I want to feel a nice contact with the ground I love so much! :eyes: This might be the reason you are striving with hitting your long irons a long way: Aren't you forfeiting the "down" because you see a ball positioned more forward in your stance? Distance is also related to Lag pressure: Do you put and sustain enough lag pressure on your downstroke? I know that when I hit I tend to feel much more Lag pressure than when Swinging. |
