Speed Chain
Has anyone here used the speed chain as a way of increasing clubhead speed? As a result of my lurking on the 4GEA.com site, I read about it and obtained one. I'm working with it, but haven't been able to really see a change because the weather has kept me from actually hitting golf balls much. Anyway, I'm curious if there are others who are working with this and as to any results you might have obtained.

I've been following the posts on GEA as well. Did you measure your swing speed before you started with it? How do you do it basically? I mean do you do it like circuit training with weights where you do so many reps a day or every other day?
|
I've generally followed the suggestions of Trainchain on gea and do 6-10 reps, followed by a break, repeated 5 to 6 times every other day. I had my swing measured about a year ago and did not measure it again prior to starting with the speed chain, but I do feel that it has already helped a little and will help more as time goes on. My ss at the year ago time was hovering aroung 112. I do plan on getting retested in a couple of months to sse the status at that time and will report then. I like the logic of the device and do find that it works fine with my new TGM setup and hit motion. Let me know if you have any other questions.

To me it looks as if it definitely would force you to swing on plane. That in itself would plug some power leaks and that would buy you some mroe speed. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.

Updates
Any current status on how well this product works? Enquiring minds would like to know. :)

I have one and believe it is a good product. I got it last year, but due to some back issues(from beforehand), I was reluctant to go full bore. Since working with it over winter as well as having 4 months free of back pain, have been able to get my swing speed up to 120mph, from about 108 this time last year.
My trainer has acquired 4 of these, and 4 torso burners, for his PT, and for his clients. He is a BIG believer!!! His reasoning apart from a 10 mph increase in one of the clients' swing speeds(104 - 114), is that it is 'the best thing out there' for efficient motor learning. That is, training to increase your swing speed is best done at similiar speeds you expect to swing the golf club at. I also contend that it is a decent means to eliminating an over the top move in the golf swing as the chain will 'catch' if you make that move. So, if that's what you want...not good for Slammin Sam or K.J ... Now, about that clubface... |
Hit of Swing
Homerson,
Do you hit or swing? Does the SpeedChain appear to work equally well for each motion? Thanks for the reply! |
Hi Steph,
I try to swing!! I spent much of 2004 trying to impose some hitting ideas into a predominantly swinging proceedure, and didn't get too far, probably due to it being an unguided (mostly) foray into hitting. I would expect that it is not for the hitters out there, but I would want to hear from a hitter who has tried it. Regards, |
Speed Chain works for hitting or swinging. I suggest standing
on an 8-12" platform or stool while training. |
Thanks Much!
