Advice for newbie

I have been a member on this forum for a while now, and having adopted some of the principles (flat left wrist through impact) last year, I had my best year of golf since I was a junior. My ball striking in particular improved.

This year I'm not playing as much but wanted to take the opportunity of trying to practice. I am able to carry out the basic motion chip shots with all three hinging motions very successfully, controlling trajectory very well. The problems occur when I move into the acquired motion pitch shots. My ball striking becomes erratic and its almost as if I'm shanking shots or the ball is flying off the toe. Ball flight is pretty low and to the right.

What could I be doing wrong?? It's really frustrating because the quality of striking on my basic motion shots is great...feel the compression!

Help!

After the Follow-Through (Both Arms Straight position), you need to Swivel into the Finish. Stick a tee in the butt-end of your Club's grip, and point it to the Baseline of your Inclined Plane as your Hands move waist-high out of Follow-Through. Allow your Left Wrist to Re-Cock and your Clubhead to move 'above the Hands.'

That should do it. :)

Thanks, I'll give that a try and report back

Recommend you have a look at the Colin Neeman videos posted in the gallery section.

They were very useful to me for the basic and acquired motion concepts.
