Any ideas for a home practice regimen?
As of March 1, I now have my dream foursome. :D
![]() This however limits my ability to play/practice. I figure that I can practice at home usually in the evenings after the kids are asleep. I have my dowel, a bean bag chair for my impact bag, a place to chip, a full-length mirror, a good carpet for putting on, weighted club, and an Inside Approach (impluse buy). Can anyone help me with a practice schedule stay on track so that if I do have a little bit of time/permission, I can go out and not suck it up on the course. BTW, goal for me is to stay playing bogey golf, not looking to win tournaments, but not looking to stay a hacker either  |
Sounds like you have everything you need, just keep learning about the golfing machine and the movements. Then just keep repeating them in the mirror.
I'm sure others will add some more stuff. |
I have an area in my basement that I use. I can do full short iron swings, but am learning more from swinging without a ball and/or chipping. I have a practice net and a Fiberbuilt practice mat - low investment.
I do drills with dowels to ingrain grip and hand/arm positions. Impact bag drills as prescribed here - drive through imact I also do some Tour Tempo work, using the tones while I swing I'll do some 1/2 swings using impact tape (painters tape). I just started tying a t-shirt to a club(head) and trying to feel lag/load (new feeling for me!), again concentrating on the feelings in my hands - impact positions One arm swings feeling release and follow thru I also do some putting work...I'll have 2 folding chairs on opposite sides. Tie one line of string @5" above the ground, tie another line of string @4" above that (2 straight parallel lines). Place the ball directly under the string. Take your normal stance - are your eyes directly over the ball? If you only see one line of string - yes...If you see two lines of string, your eyes are not directly over the ball. Good luck, and put the kids to bed early! |

Sounds like a pretty good practice regimen from Monkeyboy!!! Have you found the Tour Tempo to be beneficial? |
I like the underlying concept of Tour Tempo. I only started using it @ 3 months ago and have not played recently to say one way or the other whether it has improved my game. I view it more as something that should be ingrained subconsciously rather than having to work hard to achieve it...kind of like something to help you remember and will help you to relax when your swing is out of whack.
