Single/Double/ 10-18

TGM teachers that I know usually recommend 10-18-C (Single Wrist Cock) for their students. The advantage of this is... "Because their is actually NO HAND MOTION during the Stroke, Clubhead Fix alignment remains undisturbed."

There are many teachers, however, that do recommend the cocking of both wrists. This obviously can work, because there are many very good players that do so... Mickelson, Daly... and many of Mr. Leadbetter's and also probably Mr. O'Grady's students, among others.

There seem to be two versions of this type of WRIST COCK.

#1-- A Double Cocked LEFT WRIST and Double Cocked RIGHT WRIST

#2-- A Flat LEFT WRIST and a Cocked RIGHT WRIST

In TGM terms... describe the mechanics, physics, workings, etc. of the BOTH WRIST COCKED procedure.

(This is not meant to argue that the Both Wrists Cocked mechanic is better, but I think it would be good to know how this works.)

In looking at the double cocked move, focus on what PP#1 does in relation to 'center' - it is the key.

The big advantage with this move is lag - clubhead control - which is far easier to maintain 'deep' into the swing from a double cocked position.

The big disadvantage is clubface control - it must be 'manipulated' even for swingers. The trick is to 'start' the move back to flat just enough to allow the throw out/physics to do the rest for you.

Both depend on grip type. Given 10-2D, you have less to 'do' (basically nothing) re: clubface control from a double cocked position, but you have much less margin for error.

As far as #2 on your list, not the worst of falts BUT you are at a disadvantage re: your 'support' of impact. Giving up the 'wedges' means that you are not supporting impact in the most efficient way. That may be minor (just a bit of 'mass' at impact) or major (leading to throw away).

Much less damage for swingers than for hitters in either case #1 or #2 IMO.

Swing Setter

I just saw Mr. Leadbetter's infomercial on The Swing Setter training aid.

The guys on there looked to be cocking both wrists, and double cocking the left wrist.

Do you think it is possible to get into the poistion he wants at 9:00 without cocking both wrists?

Els, Nick Price, Charles Howell lll, and several other excellent players were helping to endorse this aid.
