I'm making progress
Yoda, I said I hadn't given up yet! Today was quite nice and I had just finished reshafting my driver so I was anxious to hit some balls. The ground is still too wet and muddy to play so I found a range open that has hitting mats. I bought a jumbo bucket af what they said were golf balls and off I went. I tried the RFP and right arm thrust with some success but still inconsistent. I tried what I considered swinging with some success but still not consistent.
I was 3/4 through the bucket when I stumbled on to the combination. I took my setup and stretched my hands toward the ball. I kept that feeling of stretch to the top. Then I thought about nothing but hitting the hell out of the ball with my hands, both of them. I started hitting longer than normal and most of them were straight. The ones that weren't would have been playable. Did I mention LONG!! I am not a long ball hitter. My good drives normally carry 240-250. Most of these were flying past the 250 sign. I would quess they were carying 270-280. I had to totally forget about the clubhead. If I focused on the clubhead my success rate went down. After setup I never thought about the club head again, I focused on the HANDS. I think I remember that being mentioned somewhere HANDS, HANDS, HANDS. I hope I can repeat this again. Toward A Deeper Understanding
Quote:
From there, you Hit the Ball with the Pressure Points in your Hands -- specifically, for Hitters, Pressure Points #1 and #3. That is, the Heel of the Right Hand (against the Left Hand thumb) and the 'meaty part' of the Forefinger (between the first two knuckles). |
