BLocks- help!
 

I feel I am starting to get the feel for this swing though I am having a bit of a prblem with my longer clubs.I am blocking the ball. It is as if I haven't released so the club face is open. I suspect my old swinging motion is partly to blame asI think my right shoulder instead of being a platform to push from starts to move and I get ahead of the shot.

Any drill sto fix this? What is 4 barrel hitting, doesn't it involve moving the right shoulder down plane?
How does one crea te this motion?

The start down right shoulder action is the first stage booster rocket for a 4 barrel hit. It "takes" the hands down a straight line, angle of approach line towards the ball. The #4 accumulator releases early in the downswing once the initial speed is set up as the #1 accumulator fires the second stage rocket, and continues accelerating the hands down the angle of approach, into and through impact.

I tend to block shots hitting when swinging creeps into the hit.
For me it means two things; The pivot continues an attempt to keep a load on #4 which moves me off of an Angle of Approach procedure, and/or I quit accelerating #1 through impact.

All i know is don't even attempt to learn how get that right shoulding launching pad thing going without proper instruction, it will be long frustrating road.

I never tried but when i did learn how to do it, Manzella taught me, it was a REALLY awesome feeling. However we didn't do it enough and i didn't want to learn how to the most recent time i went. But i can definately see how one can get more power this way.

Well how closed must one setup? Seems this is something that must be hard to do consistently. I would much prefer having the face of the club aligned square to my target line. Is this a no go for hitting?

No such thing as a block.

OK, so the phrase is not in TGM, or was never been uttered by Homer. It's a figure of speech... used to describe a common ball flight or swing feel with said ball flight by the player. Now that that's said, go ahead and answer his problem. As Hannibal Lechter once said "Thrill me with your acumen."

I start blocking it and worse when I start taking it back farther than my "Top" in the hitting sequence.........

As advised in another thread......when I take my hands past my right shoulder........all kinds of stuff start to happen.........little of it good

This is why a hitter on tour, Fuyrk, plays with driver heads that are anywhere from 2-3* closed. He doesn't have to close it, he just lets the club sit naturally and its already closed for him.

I'd suggest if you are going to HIT with your driver you experiment with different closed face drivers. If you are going to SWING you are going to hook it.
