I personally don't read that much into the statement. I think he's only saying that for humans ("people-shaped golfers") that there is only one type of golf swing. That swing is one where you grip the club, stand next to the ball, swing on an inclined plane, etc. There is almost an infinite number of versions of this swing but in effect everyone is trying to make more or less the same motion.

that was how I tend to see it as well - I read it as more or less an introduction type statement but I think some have a narrower view
