I'm not holding my breath on that one, DG, but there is no question that itreally does help to see, as you say, "Homer's analysis from start tofinish." I mentioned in another post, that there were some real 'gems' inthe earlier editions that Homer removed strictly for space considerations.Here's one of my favorites from the 1st edition discussion of The Secret /Clubhead Lag (now 6-C-2-0):
"It is quite simple in itself, but its applications and activities are alittle complex and quite elusive. But it is absolutely indispensable toconsistency, accuracy and, most of all, Power. It has no substitute orcompensation. It is the perfection of the Mechanics of Golf -- which are"peanuts" without Clubhead Lag, and if mastered, assures arespectable performance on the basis of Feel alone, with little dependence onMechanics at all."
That last sentence explains how a lot of good golf has been played through thecenturies, including championship golf. It also explains how a lot of bad golfhas been played -- by people who are 'knowledgeable' and who are constantlyworking on mechanics.
So, always remember...
"A Feel System without an Engineering System is a lop-sided lottery, and aFeel System is indispensable in such a complex action as we have in the GolfStroke." (6th edition Introduction)
And so in golf, as in lotteries, many are called but few are chosen.
