I really like hearing how focused we are on a specific spot on the ball. I've found it helps keep the head still throughout the stroke and even aids in preventing dreaded "downstroke blackout".
Keep hinge action in mind as you go through the address procedure and then pick the spot spot on the ball. Hinge action may determine the focal point. For instance; putting or vertical hinge shots will require a 3:00 focal point, Angled hinge a few degrees more, etc...
