Real swing vs. practice swing
Some quality Father's Day time hitting balls into a net with my son standing behind me. After a few swings, my son states, "Dad, your swing when you hit the ball is terribly OTT, and looks nothing like your practice swings (which were apparently o.k.). And this was into a net! I shudder to think how large the difference must be when I am actually on the course.

Suggestions as to how to deal with this "ballitis" disease would be appreciated. Thanks.

Acquiring Educated Hands In the Start Down

Teach,

The problem is Steering (the First Snare / 3-F-7-A). In other words, you are attempting to 'swing towards the Target' while holding the Clubface Square into the Follow Through and Finish. Good-bye Follow-Through (Both Arms Straight position) and hello 'Chicken Wing.'

The solution is Educated Hands.

The Hands must maintain their alignment with the Plane Line during the Start Down (3-B) and thus enable their drive toward the Ball (6-G-0 per 1-L-10). In Release through Impact, the Left Wrist must Uncock and the Hands must Roll (4-D-0, 2-G and 6-B-3-0).

The Gateway is the Start Down Waggle (8-7 per 3-F-5), again and again until you habitually start the Club down 'in the Slot.' At first, look, look LOOK (3-B and 9-2) until you get it right. Then, as always, use Closed Eyes Hand Education (5-0).

As I've read....it's also possible that your clubface is to blame.....with a practice swing it doesn't matter.....with a real swing it's prolly the most important part.

To eliminate my students' "hacking" intent, I randomly remove the ball unexpectedly in the middle of the downswing as the clubhead approaching impact.

Since having no idea whether the ball is to be hit, they'd better just swing as they do in practice.

YOU load and sustain the "LAG", during which the "LAW" releases it, ideally beyond impact.
"Sustain (Yang/陽) the lag (Yin/陰)" is "the unification of Ying and Yang" (陰陽合一).
The "LAW" creates the "effect", which is the "motion" or "feel", with the "cause", which is the "intent" or "command".
"Lag" is the secret of golf, passion is the secret of life.
Think as a golfer, execute like a robot.
Rotate, twist, spin, turn.
Bend the shaft.
